Nutella Mug Cakes

Did you know today was national #nutella day? Yep, February 5th.

I wonder who gets to decide these days? I was done baking for the day, but couldn’t pass to the chance to celebrate Nutella????, so we decided on something quick. Have you made mug cakes yet? They generally are simple and small batches. This one will be made from ingredients you probably already have at home. I also love them because older kids can easily make these. My youngest made this entirely on his own, minus me taking them from the microwave after they were baked. Plus, It’s all mixed in one bowl and made in the microwave. Simple! If you want to come and celebrate with us, here’s what we did-

This made 3- 6oz ramekins, but really probably should have been 4. We almost had a chocolate volcano in the microwave THREE times, we didn’t learn after the first ????.

2 eggs, beaten
2 tablespoons Nutella
2 tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
2.5 teaspoons cocoa powder
2 tablespoons brown sugar

Mix all ingredients together until blended and smooth. Microwave for about 20 to 30 seconds. That’s it. We did ours for 40 and it was too much. It should be slightly soft still, not springy. All together, mixing time and baking, it told about 5 minutes. My youngest wanted his topped with more Nutella and chocolate chips. Toppings can be anything!
