Everytime I visited my Grandma on my mom’s side of the family, she loved to give us “jazzed” up juice. Don’t worry, she wasn’t a lush and giving her grandkids alcohol. No, jazzing it for my grandmother was adding some kind of lemon lime soda to koolaid. Now, it was pretty common for this 7up or Sprite to be completely flat, so….it wasn’t exactly a jazz :). Regardless, I still like to jazz it up occasionally for my own kids. So, here is my ode to sweet grandma- Sparking (jazzed up) strawberry lemonade.
So, here is how it went. Wash some strawberries, cut off stems. Throw them in blender with fresh lemon juice, ice cubes and honey.
Blend it all together.
Last, mix with Perrier sparkling water. I must say this is much healthier and tastier ( hopefully my grandma doesn’t read this and get offended…) than my grandma’s version.
I’m feeling so grateful it’s strawberry season! Not only do they look beautiful, but TASTES beautiful!! Don’t you hate it when you buy strawberries that look amazing and taste terrible.
5-6cupsstrawberries, washed and hulledthis is a variable, depending on how well you want the strawberry flavor to stand out.
3/4cupfresh lemon juicesame as strawberries. This is a variable. If you like more lemon, add it.
2tablespoonshoneyThis is also a variable. If want to add more, add it. If you want to use a different sweetener, you definitely should.
2-3cupPerrier sparkling waterYou can use the lemon flavored one, but I just used the plain.
I need to start out this instruction group by letting you know everything, absolutely everything in this recipe is a variable. If you like more strawberries, add it. If you like more lemon juice, go for it! More sparkling water or sweetener? Do it!Here's the basics to get you started. Blend Strawberries, lemon juice, honey and ice in blender. Taste and make adjustments as necessary. From here add in sparkling water as desired. Now, head out to the front porch and that rocking chair. Sit back and enjoy. You deserve it!!
