Steel cut oats are one of my favorite breakfasts. Although I love regular old fashioned oats, steel cut are even better. Generally I cook them on the cooktop, but I recently learned you can cook them in the pressure cooker too! Now, let me just say, it isn’t too much faster, but the nice part is, you don’t have to babysit it to make sure the oats don’t burn. I think we could all use a few extra minutes in the mornings. Am I right?

Here’s the pressure cooker I use. It was gifted to me by my sister and I love it! Cuisinart has always been one of my favorite brands to use!

I know there is the preheat time, but aside from that, cooking steel cut oats in the pressure cooker is so fast!!

Top however you choose. I love brown sugar or maple syrup, any variety of nuts, fruit or even dried fruits.

Tasty, creamy, a little chewy…so yummy. All with little effort! It’s the perfect weekday breakfast. Or even a weekend breakfast you don’t want to give much effort to.

Steel Cut Oats, Pressure Cooker

I have always cooked my steel cut oats on the cooktop. I love them this way, but found something so much easier. This pressure cooker recipe definitely simplifies any morning routine!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup steel cut oats
  • 3 cups milk or water I used unsweetened vanilla almond milk.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Add all ingredients to the pressure cooker.
    Turn on high for 4 minutes. Use the natural release.
    That's it, it's ready to go. I love to top mine with some maple syrup, pepitas and some type of nuts. There are plenty of other toppings as well- fresh fruit, brown sugar, honey, different seeds, etc. There are so many fun ways to dress up your oats. The possibilities are endless.
    Now, sit back and enjoy. You deserve it.
