I came across the best meat market the other day in our local area, Porterhouse Meat Market in Eagle. I’m always excited to support local businesses where I can, especially when they stock quality ingredients. Among other things I bought, these Wagyu steaks were the best things I’ve spent money on in awhile. They were so delicious and tender. It was well worth every dime I spent! While most of our meals are kept on the inexpensive side, sometimes we splurge. This was totally worth it.
Now, when I have a good cut of meat, my preparation and cooking methods are always simple. I want to savor the flavor.
I start by bringing my steaks to room temp. This makes the grilling more consistent all the way through the steak.
Just before grilling, I season. Again, it’s a simple rub. It’s a mixture of kosher salt, fresh ground pepper, garlic powder and paprika. Sprinkle it on, we like it kind of heavy as you can see from the photo.
Next I heat my grill hot. Like about 550-600 degrees. Let it heat for awhile so the grates are smoking hot.
Add steaks at an angle.
Grill for 3 minutes, then rotate angles. Next flip and repeat. Depending on heat and thickness of steaks, this should give you a lovely medium steak.
Remove from heat and allow the steak to rest for about 5-10 minutes.
We served our’s with roasted red potatoes and asparagus, sauteed mushrooms and a cucumber avocado salad. It was dreamy!
My husband was so excited about this. It was literally the things his dreams are made of ;).
Even though I’m not a huge fan of steaks, this one may have changed my mind. It was so flavorful and tender.
