Ice Cream Cake- Simple
This ice cream cake will have your friends and family raving. The best part? It's so simple.
Servings: 12 servings
- 14 ounce package of oreos if you prefer, use another cook for the base
- 3 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 gallon ice cream I prefer vanilla, as I think it is such a great base. If you want another flavor, you should do it!
- add ins of choice There are endless options out there for this- whopper, chopped up candy bars, m&ms, soup patch kids, fudge sauce, caramel sauce, nuts, whip cream etc etc.
Start by throwing all oreos, or cookie of choice, into food processor. I reserved about 7-10 for crushing between layers as well. Pulse the cookies until they are ground well. Add in melted butter and pulse again. Press into bottom of 10 inch spring form pan. This will form your crust. Next soften ice cream slightly. You need to have a good strong mixer for this, if not only load small batches. Add ice cream to stand mixer and mix just to soften slightly. Not too much, you don't want the ice cream to melt at any point in this process. Spread your first layer on the oreo crust. You can can divide the ice cream as you choose, in however many layers you want. I only did 2, but generally do 3. You will want to work quickly, you don't want the ice cream to melt. Now, you can add whatever you want in between layers. We used crushed oreos and fudge sauce. I love it with whoppers, but my youngest son doesn't, as it was his birthday, I felt like he should get his cake the way he wanted it. :)Top with another layer of ice cream. Last add remaining toppings. Move immediately to freezer. I like to let this freeze overnight, just to make sure it's totally set. Run the outside of the spring form pan with warm water, just to loosen. Remove outer pan and bottom. Slice in sizes you choose. I won't even tell you how many my boys ate. It was pretty crazy! Now, sit back and enjoy. Plus, enjoy those compliments, they will be rolling in!
