Whole Wheat Fig Bars Recipe

If you have never thought of making your own fig bars, let me tell you, it is so much easier than you might think!

Start by soaking the dried figs in boiling water until they are softened.

In a food processor or blender, mix them together with the honey.

This will make a thick fig paste.

Time to make the cookie dough. Mix together the dry ingredients.

Then mix the butter and sugar until it is light.

5. 

Add the egg and vanilla and mix again.

Last, add in the dry ingredients and mix to combine.

Divide the dough in half and roll it out.

8. 

Spread half of it each with the fig paste.

9. 

Fold it over and press closed. Cut them to the size you want.

10. 

Bake until they are a LIGHT golden brown on the edges.
