4th of July Trifle

This simple no-bake dessert is perfect for your patriotic holiday. It is easy to make and perfect for making ahead.

  • 1 trifle bowl

Ingredients

  • 1 angel food cake
  • 1 pound cream cheese softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 tablespoons lemon zest
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 3 cups fresh blueberries
  • 3 cups strawberries

Instructions

  • Cut the angel food cake into cubes. Set it aside.
  • Cut the strawberries into chunks or slices. Set them aside as well.
  • Mix together the cream cheese, sugar, lemon zest, and vanilla. When it is creamy, add in the heavy cream and mix on high speed until it is well incorporated.
  • Start layering the trifle, beginning with the cubed cake. Then add a layer of the cream cheese, berries, cake, cream, and berries.
  • Once you get to the top, decorate as you like, or use my example. I like to let it sit for at least an hour or even overnight before serving.
  • It will hold well for up to 2 days.
