Making Homemade Dried Fruits Dipped in Dark Chocolate is so easy. Sure, you can buy them, but making them at home allows you to know exactly what goes into them. It also saves you so much money!

Course: Dessert
Cuisine: American
Diet: Low Salt, Vegetarian
Keyword: dark chocolate, dried apricots, dried figs, dried mangoes, dried pineapple
Servings: 20 pieces of fruit
Author: Amy Sandidge

Ingredients

  • 1 cup dark chocolate melting chips
  • 20 pieces assorted dried fruit I used, apricots, dates, figs and mangoes for mine, but sky is the limit here!
  • sea salt optional. I love it, but it is a personal preference

Instructions

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment. Set aside.
  • Start by melting the chocolate in the microwave or over the double boiler. It doesn’t not need to be melted all the way when you remove it from the microwave, it will continues to melt as you stir it after. I microwaved mine for about 45 seconds.
  • Dip the fruits in the chocolate. You can cover them all the way or partially as I did. If you are going to sprinkle on the flake salt, be sure to do this while the chocolate is still wet.
  • Place the dipped fruit on a parchment-lined baking sheet. If your house is cool enough, you won’t need to chill them. If not, put them in the fridge for a few minutes to set the chocolate.
  • If your house is cool, you can leave them at room temperature, if not, store them in the fridge.

Notes

  1. When I was deciding on which fruits to use, I pulled out whatever I had in the pantry. This included dates, mangoes, apricots, and figs. I also love dried blueberries, cherries, raisins, etc. You can use any of these, or any dried fruit of preference!
  2. Be careful not to overheat your chocolate, it will bloom if you do.
  3. You do not need to add in the coconut oil, but it makes it so much easier to melt and dip if you do.
