Ingredients

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper optional
  • 16 ounce ground sausage- I like Jimmy Dean Hot
  • 4 ounces softened cream cheese
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 egg, mixed
  • 3 cups frozen hash browns, slightly thawed for easier mixing

Instructions

  • For starters, I like to thaw my hash browns just slightly. It makes them so much easier to mix in. Next, mix together the flour, baking powder, salt, garlic salt, black pepper, and crushed red pepper in a small bowl.
  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside.
  • Combine all the ingredients and mix really well. You will want to ensure that everything is combined. Scoop into 2 tablespoon balls and line them on your baking sheet.
  • Bake for 22-25 minutes. The tops will be lightly golden brown and the balls cooked through.
  • I like to let them cool for about 5 minutes before serving. If you are not eating them right away, but using them for meal prep. Let them cool at room temperature. Once they are cooled, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.
