This Ham and Cheese Galette can be anything. If you need a dinner, this is it. What about breakfast or brunch? That too. Or even a higher protein snack, this works also. Keep reading to find out more about this simple dish!

If you want more galette options, let me suggest a few I love. This savory artichoke and spinach galette is a really great option. Or if you are a potato lover like me, this potato galette is also a good choice. Tomato and goat cheese galettes are one of my favorites in the summertime. Or maybe you like sweets? These rustic and blueberry galettes are so good!

    What Makes This Recipe Work?

There is something so delicious about that flaky pie crust enclosing the salty ham and cheese. All of this over a thin layer of mustard. I promise this works.

This galette is incredibly simple to make. If you have never made a galette before, you will be surprised at just how easy it is! This one is especially easy to make. I made my pie dough, but if you want to simplify this even more, buy your pie dough!

I like to use this for meal prep as well. It isn't as perfectly flaky when you reheat, but it is still really good! Make this ahead of time and you have breakfast the next day.

    Ingredients

    • Pie dough- I made mine homemade. If you are interested in learning how check out this post I wrote all about pie dough making. If you want to keep it simple, buy the pie dough, no judgment.
    • Ham- I bought ham pieces. It is a shortcut I recommend!
    • Mustard- I used dijon, but you can also use yellow mustard or stone ground. If mustard is not your thing, you can always leave it out.
    • Cheese- I used a medium cheddar, this is what my family likes. If you want to branch out, gruyere or gouda.
    • Broccoli- You don't have to add this in, but I always try to add in vegetables wherever I can.

    How To Make

    1. As mentioned above, this is simple to make. Let me tell you just how simple. Roll out your pie dough. If you are rolling homemade pie dough, you may need to flour the surface lightly. Roll it out into a 14-inch circle.
    2. In the middle of the circle, spread a thin layer of mustard, leaving about 2 inches all the way around.
    3. Sprinkle with half the cheese, then the ham and broccoli. Top this with the last of the grated cheddar.
    4. Fold in the edges all the way around, as shown in the photos. If you want, you can brush the edges with egg wash. It is only for looks, it gives the crust a beautiful shine.
    5. Bake until it is golden brown. Remove from the oven. You can serve this hot, warm, or even cooled. It is good any way you choose to enjoy it!

    Notes

    • This is simple to make, but let me add a few things to note.
    • I used ham pieces, but you can also buy a breakfast ham steak and cut it into ½-inch chunks. This takes a little time, but not too much.
    • I used Dijon mustard, but there are a ton of other mustards to use as well. Honestly yellow mustard is a go-to in our family. I also really love Dijon and Stoneground in this recipe as well. If you don't like mustard, don't feel like you have to use it, but I think it is good with ham and cheese.
    • Broccoli was the only veggie I used, but you can add in any others you like. Bell peppers, onions, and even mushrooms would be really good too.
    • Whatever you don't eat, you can save for later. Wrap this up, or store it in an airtight container for up to a week.
