    Why Make These Jalapeno Poppers?

I have a tough time with Halloween because of how difficult it is for me to choose and find the right costume. What I don’t like to have a difficult time with is my recipes! I want a savory appetizer that gets everyone talking, without the hassle.

If you are looking for Halloween food for a themed Party, you’re looking in the right place. These jalapeno poppers have a fun mummy theme and are such a simple appetizer to cook. And you don’t have to spend valuable time trying to figure out what to make because it’s all right here for you.

Make-ahead appetizers are where it’s at when it comes to holiday party food. People really like to graze on food while they are at a party and you can prepare this simple dish ahead of time and place it on a table for all of your attendees to munch on while they mingle.

    Ingredients

    • Jalapenos
    • Softened Cream Cheese
    • Cheese - I prefer parmesan or cheddar, but you can choose what you like!
    • Salt
    • Black Pepper
    • Garlic Powder
    • Crescent Dough - I prefer Pillsbury!
    • Candy Eyes

    How To Make Them

    1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
    2. Cut your jalapeno peppers in half and remove the seeds.
    1. Combine the cream cheese, cheese, salt, garlic powder, and pepper.
    1. Spoon the cream cheese mixture into your peppers. I like to overfill mine just a touch so the filling squishes out just a little in the mummy wrapping.
    1. Unroll your crescent roll sheet. Cut it into about ½-inch strips. Wrap your jalapeno poppers as shown in the post photos.
    1. Do this for all 10 of the jalapeno halves.
    1. Place in the preheated oven and bake until they are golden brown.
    1. Remove from the oven. Add your candy eyes and serve. These are best served hot.
    1. If you do not want the candy eyes, you can always use ketchup or olives for the eyes.

    Prepping the Jalapenos

In case you have not worked with jalapenos before let me teach you how to prep them for this recipe.

Start by slicing your jalapenos lengthwise. I like to leave the stem on, I just think it looks kind of cool with it.

Remove your veins and seeds. If you have a lot of peppers to do, you should definitely use gloves. I didn't have that many to do, so I didn't worry about it. Once you are finished though, wash your hands immediately- several times.

    Planning For Halloween Parties

Planning a party for Halloween can be stressful, but if you plan your recipes ahead of time, you’ll have a much easier time. Try to stick to easy recipes that don’t take many hours to make.

Sweet and Savory Halloween food is much easier to find than you might think. Right here on my website, you can find recipes for Simple Meatball Mummies For Halloween and Best Pumpkin Pie Dip just to name a couple.

It’s especially useful to pick recipes that can be made ahead of time and then finished close to the start of the party.

For example, with the meatball mummies recipe, you could either buy meatballs that are already pre-made or you could make your own meatballs and freeze them ahead of time so that you have less prep to do on party day!

    Tips

These are best baked right before serving. Hot is how they should be served. If you need to, prep everything ahead of time, then bake right before serving.

If you want to make your own crescent dough, you can always do that. I used the premade dough to save on time. When I am getting ready for a party, the last thing I want to be doing is cooking in the kitchen.

I don't buy premade crescent dough often, but here are my recommendations. I generally like to buy off-brand foods, I am a mother of 2 teenage boys and groceries are expensive! But, I do prefer the Pillsbury brand crescent roll sheets as opposed to the store brand.

    FAQ

Can these be made ahead of time?

Yes! You can assemble everything for the poppers, including wrapping them in the crescent dough. Place them in the fridge to keep them chilled. Right before serving, pull them out and bake them.

What else can I use for the eyes?

I like the look of the candy eyes, but you can always use a dab of ketchup or mustard. Or you can cut small pieces of black or green olives and use those.

Can I use a milder pepper?

You can. If the jalapenos are too hot for you, you can always try a poblano or anaheim. If you want something much milder, you can always use one of the small bell peppers.
